BREVARD HISTORIC SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION

Brevard Historical Scholars Competition

The Brevard Historical Scholars Competition is a countywide, museum-mentored academic competition for public, private, charter, and homeschool students in grades 7–12 throughout Brevard County.

The goal is to make history something students do—not simply something they study.

Competition Overview

Students will compete in one of five categories:

  • Space & Astronautics
  • Early Settlements & Homesteading
  • Natural History & Environment
  • Cultural & Community Life
  • Military & Political History

Each student will submit:

  • Visual Presentation: A tri-fold display board or digital presentation such as PowerPoint or Google Slides.
  • Oral Presentation: A 3–5-minute presentation before judges.
  • Research Component: A 1–2-page written summary accompanied by a bibliography. Students are encouraged to incorporate primary sources whenever possible.

All projects must have a direct connection to Brevard County, Florida.
